Russ has lived in Waterloo and Cedar Falls since his college graduation in 1973. He has 30 years of experience in accounting, financial planning and management services. He has also held certification to practice tax law before the IRS.

Russ' interests include home remodeling, gardening and fishing, and being involved in his church. Both Russ and his wife, Jean, were raised in McGregor, Iowa. They have 3 children and 3 granddaughters.
